SWDV - 1995 " Star Wars � - Darth Vader � " lidded stein. This 10 1/2" limited edition Star Wars � lidded stein was officially licensed by Lucasfilm Ltd. and made exclusively for CUI, Inc. Artist Jason Palmer's illustration features a large head shot of Darth Vader �, to the right, with a 3/4 image of him, to the left, and his TIE fighter, below the large head shot. Issued to comemmorate the original Star Wars � movie in 1977, this stein is individually numbered of a limited edition of 1977. A 2 1/2" miniature pewter figurine of Darth Vader � sits atop the lid. SWRVADER2 - 1977 " Darth Vader " tankard. Produced by Jim Rumph and released by California Originals, this 6 5/8" tall tankard features the full head of Darth Vader on the front. A hair shorter than the 1st production, this a little lighter, in weight, 2nd version has 3 white painted areas on the front of his mask. (*** A 2nd mold is produced for any type ceramic or pottery type item, because the 1st mold can only have so many pieces produced before the mold starts to deteriorate. 2nd molds usually produce the same item, but generally just a slight smaller than the original mold pieces. This gives a collector a true 2nd version and usually the Manufacturer an opportunity to take advantage of this and have some slightly different details also. In this case, the height slightly can be seen side by side, maybe in the picture, the white on the front, defineately in pictures, but the weight, only in the hands of the beholder. ***) Marked " STAR WARS � 1977 20TH CENTURY FOX FILM CORP. 25 RUMPH CALIF ORIGINALS ", on the bottom. SWCUI - 1998 " Star Wars " lidded stein.
This 9 1/4" lidded stein was made in Brazil by Ceramarte. An exclusive issue for Avon, this stein commemorates the anniversary of the original trilogy movies during the 1997 Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition release. Features artwork of Drew Struzan. The stoneware body features highly detailed, scuplted images of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader in a lightsaber battle on Cloud City. The unique handle is a recreation of Luke's new lightsaber that he made himself and along the bottom of the stein is the famous light pattern found in the carbon-freeze chamber where Luke was to be trapped and frozen by Vader. The lid and thumblift are solid pewter with embossed detail of the Star Wars logo. The colored artwork reproduces the Star Wars Special Edition movie poster. It depicts Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Han Solo against a stunning starfield backdrop complete with Rebel X-wing and Y-wing fighters.
