97471 - 1996 "NEW YORK RANGERS" Hockey helmet lidded stein. Back reads: Top, Stanley Cup Trophy with the dates; 1928, 1933, 1940 & 1994. New York Rangers; They represent the Big Apple - New Yorkers expect winners. The New York Rangers' third Stanley Cup came in 1940, their fourth in 1994. During the intervening fifty-four years, they packed Madison Square Garden with demanding, often disappointed fans. Some years the team was woeful; though more often the team was in the thick of the fight - reaching the playoffs but falling short of the prize. Finally in 1994, led by a brilliant center, a stand-out goalie, and a determined coach, the Rangers claimed what had eluded them so long.

Beloved by Rangers' fans for his acrobatic saves and solid net-minding, Giacomin's team record in shutouts and lifetime 2.82 goals-against average landed him in hockey's Hall of Fame. Hand signed by Ed Giacomin and individually numbered of 299 made. This one is 98 of 299. Comes with the normal certificate of authenticity for the A2426 number of the stein. And a special certificate (shown) stamped with a Notary Public seal and numbered 98 of 299. (Original retail was $179.99 in Longton Crown's Fall 1996 catalog).

Chicago Blackhawks; Their symbol is a gallant warrior and it certainly fits. Winners of 3 Stanley Cups, the Hawks have filled their Chicago Stadium home with fans, with thrills, with high voltage action and with a tremendous noise. Reaching their peak success in the early '60's, the Hawks have been in the thick of the hockey wars ever since, missing the playoffs only once in the last 34 years".

Toronto Maple Leafs; In Canada's Centennial Year of 1967, the Toronto Maple Leafs won their fourth Stanley Cup of the decade and the eleventh in their illustrious history. The feat tied them with their archrivals in Montreal as the most successful franchises in hockey. The Maple Leafs of the 60's assembled an efficient defensive machine to complement their hard-shooting offense. Following 1967, Toronto's Leafs won no more Stanley Cups. But their rivalries remain fierce, and memories of past greatness still draw legions of devoted fans to cheer their Maple Leafs on.

Boston Bruins; The Boston Bruins' determination often led to a victory, a total of 5 Stanley Cups, and fans who knew all along that the Bruins' were winners. They won their first Stanley Cup in 1929 and the next two in 1939 and 1941. During the ensuing 29-year long dry spell, the Boston Bruins played a tough game, and their appreciative fans kept the famed Boston Garden filled. In 1967 the Bruins' laid the groundwork that would net them their fourth and fifth Stanley Cups (in 1970 and 1972) by acquiring an outstanding defenseman and a high-scoring attack.

Between 1948 and '55, when the auto industry and its city were riding high, the Red Wings finished first seven consecutive seasons, and captured four Stanley Cups. Built around hockey's all-time endurance champ, Gordie Howe, the Wings were smooth, smart, and powerful. The Red Wings have returned to dominance in the Nineties, in 1996 the Wings set the all-time record with 62 regular season triumphs.

The Montreal Canadiens championship teams of 1959 and 1960 are considered two of the best in NHL history.
